Was Rick Springfield on “The Goldbergs?”

Yes. Rick Springfield was on “The Goldbergs” in Season 6, Episode 3. Springfield played Gary Globberman, owner of Gary-oke, a karaoke bar.

It seems like a natural combo: ‘80s pop star Rick Springfield and ABC hit show about the ‘80s “The Goldbergs.” Imagine Springfield crossing paths with Adam, Erica, Barry, Murray and oh help him Beverly.

Here’s the premise: Erica, who can actually sing, (in real life she was a contestant on Fox’s The X-Factor as part of Lakoda Rayne) is super excited about the musical restaurant and soon is on the stage performing, and later getting a job there.

Of course Smother, Beverly Goldberg, is thrilled about the opportunity to not only see her daughter at work, but get the chance to sing with her as well. You can image how that went over with Erica.

Springfield is in a few scenes with Erica, and later with Beverly, who brings her friends to the restaurant much to the embarrassment of Erica.

“Jessie’s Girl” is heard about five times throughout the episode as background music and as a tune sung by several of the customers. Lucky Beverly gets to sing “Jessie’s Girl” with Gary, meaning Wendi McLendon-Covey got to sing “Jessie’s Girl” with Rick Springfield. Sigh.

Rumor has it, or did we just wish this, that Springfield might return to “The Goldbergs.”
