The Go-Gos documentary, simply titled, The Go-Go’s, is streaming on Showtime. Originally released in January of 2020, the flick got more attention once it hit the streaming service. The attention from the doc possibly helped the Go-Go’s get a Rock Hall nom. They’ve been eligible since 2006.

#1 Gina Shock and Jane Wiedlin dated.

#2 The Film Doesn’t Focus on Dating

While there was a brief mention of Gina and Jane, and there’s another mention later of Jane dating a guy they toured with, that’s it for the dating life.

#3 Most of the movie details the music, the misogyny

Ironically, after all the mentions of misogyny, the Go-Go’s weren’t particularly kind to their female manager. Some of them do state in the movie they regret what happened.

#4 The Go-Gos are the highest selling women’s band to write and perform their own songs

Their debut album was #1 for 6 weeks, sold over 2 million albums and they were nominated for a Grammy as Best New Artist.

#5 Drugs, drugs and drugs

Charlotte Caffey in particular struggled with drugs during their heyday.

Jane wasn’t happy with the writing credits for their music and left the group, the band fizzled less than a year later.
